Hands on with the Oculus Quest 2 for VR porn: it's fantastic!

Setting things up for the first time wasn’t easy. Firstly, the smartphone Oculus app wouldn’t recognize the Quest 2 headset until I logged out. Also, it was mandatory to link my Facebook account to make it work. I ended up creating a new Oculus account since I couldn't work out how to use the old one we used as a team.

Once set up, it’s a case of installing the DeoVR app from Oculus Home and entering exchangecity.ru in the browser. Alternatively, you can sideload SLR as a separate app (only shown in “Unknown sources”) bringing you all the VR porn with a single click.

The screen quality is much better compared to the Quest 1. Even 4K videos are cool. But 6K 200º FOV fish eye movies are fantastic!

Overall, this is a killer headset. All the features and controllers work the same as with the Quest 1, but the video quality is much better. However, the field of view (FOV) is a disappointment - it’s a shame they didn’t expand this for the Quest 2.

There are some few changes I’d push for if I were responsible for the Quest 2:

• With the higher screen resolution and 8K decoding, it feels that a bigger FOV should have been offered too. 
• An HDR display would be killer. The ZCam K2 Pro is the camera of choice for 180° VR and this camera records in 10 bit color. The Q2 can decode 10 bit, but the screen is still 8 bit. There's no advantage to playing 10 bit video on an 8 bit screen. 10 bit visuals can display up to 1.07 billion colors, whereas an 8 bit image can only display 16.7 million. This is 64 times fewer - a huge difference. 
• The need to log in using Facebook complicates the whole process and fails to take into account that many people are scared to watch porn on the Quest 2 because of privacy concerns.

Otherwise, it's a great headset!

It’s highly recommended that GearVR, Cardboard, iPhone, Daydream and Oculus Go users upgrade to the Quest 2.

Quest 2 became the headset of choice for VR porn users as it provides a similar experience to high-end gaming setups while coming in a small box and costing just $299. The 64GB version should be enough given that most of the videos streamed in VR porn app on Quest. It works with the numerous sex toys that are perfectly synchronized to match the movements in the videos, making for an incredibly immersive experience. It’s a no brainer for Quest 1 and Oculus Go users upgrade to these much better specs at an affordable price tag.
